As a Committee Member of the Institute of Hospitality Scotland Branch, I would like to draw the industry’s attention to this exciting job opportunity:

Position within the organization 

The successful applicant will be employed by the Institute of Hospitality (ioH), the worldwide professional association for managers and aspiring managers in the hospitality industry.

The candidate will report directly to the Membership Manager at the IoH headquarters in Sutton, Surrey, and the Chair of the IoH Scotland Branch.  

The role is full time (35 hours a week excluding breaks) 

Initially, this is a 6-month appointment that will be reviewed

Purpose  

  • To develop membership, engaging with all the sectors of Scotland’s hospitality industry, including educators and the industry’s suppliers
  • To assist in creating awareness throughout Scotland of the association’s work and membership benefits
  • To develop income generation for the IoH Scotland Branch through sponsorship and business partnerships

Scope of the role 

70% Business development (Individual membership, Company sponsored scheme, Education Membership Scheme, suppliers within Scotland)

20% Supporting branch in creating events 

10% Dealing with member questions 

Skills & Experience 

  • Prior knowledge of the Industry
  • Commercial / business development experience
  • Experience of organizing events
  • Good networker
  • Ability to work from home with minimal supervision
  • Ability to travel within the region to meet the Institute’s needs
  • Clear communicator
  • Clean driver’s licence

Duties and Responsibilities 

To target both individuals and companies with the objective of increasing IoH membership within Scotland  

To target regional suppliers to the Industry for both business partnership and event sponsorship  

To assist the branch in the organization and delivery of events

To support the IoH Scotland’s media activity by briefing where necessary on opportunities and channels within Scotland

To answer member queries, and report member feedback to both IoH head office and the Scotland Branch committee

Co-ordination of the IoH branch-linked ambassadors within the region

Network and liaison with other IoH UK regional branches, as required, to share knowledge and best practices

Remuneration:

£22,000 per annum plus travel, telephone and broadband expenses
